主人公叫胡振興,，來自河南許昌，在西非國家加納一家中資企業(yè)工作已近10年,，從最初的一名基層管理人員成長為工廠總經(jīng)理,。

胡振興說：“在非洲工作,，溝通非常重要，管理的關鍵就是溝通,。如果克服不了語言關的話,，我們每天安排工作和布置任務非常麻煩?！?/p>

"As a foreigner working in Africa, I believe that communication is of the utmost importance. Effective management hinges on good communication. If I can't learn the local language, it becomes very challenging to organize daily work schedules and assign tasks to employees."

胡振興告訴記者,，初到加納時，他只會“Hello ”“How are you ?”等幾句簡單的英語,，與當?shù)貑T工溝通存在很大困難,。于是，他痛定思痛,，工作之余開始自學國際音標和《新概念英語》等教材,，把工作生活中學到的英語單詞記在本上，不斷背記和鞏固,，直到完全掌握,。

學習英語的過程中，胡振興得到許多非洲員工的鼓勵和幫助,，彼此間結(jié)下了兄弟般的情誼,。“我們車間里的工人不斷地在幫助我,，有時候他們說的單詞我不明白,，他們還會幫我寫下來，可以說,，我們之間的語言障礙越來越小,。”胡振興說,。
